December 5th is the International Volunteers Day.
Shortages are abound in the area of serving at the national and state sports associations, due to the possibility of duplication and conflict of roles and responsibilities between volunteers and paid staff(s). However, smaller and less affluent sports associations are still being manned or operated by volunteers, without whom, the organisation would have died.
The one main reason people not wishing to volunteer is that, many misunderstandings arising from each one there and protecting of one's turf. Volunteers are the worst enemies of volunteers, because those who holds attractive positions will certainly not wish to surrender or even share their perks with other volunteers. On the other hand, the same can be said about paid staffers who sees volunteers as rivals and competitors who may or might take over their salaried positions or privileges.
It is therefore important that volunteers need to know their right and job responsibilities to work efficiently in any organizations they volunteer in, thus making them happy and motivated to do more for the organization. At the meantime, encourage more young people to come and serve as volunteers in your organization.
