2010 has been a great and exciting year for me, achieving much success and highs (and lows) in the many endeavors that I embarked and participated in.
The year began with me receiving the 100th Years Commemorative Medal from Scouts Association of Malaysia (Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia) for contributions towards their scouting activities.
I received the Crown Territory Medal or "Pingat Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (P.P.W.)" during the Federal Territories Day celebration. The award was in recognition of contributions made by the recipients to the three federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan and was conferred by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the investiture ceremony held in Istana Negara. It was a memorable day for both my wife and myself that glorious morning.
At the Kuala Lumpur Bodybuilding Championships 2010 aka Mr. KL in June where I was the Organizing Secretary since 2007, Mr. KL 2010 managed to attract a crowd of 606 fans, friends, family members and supporters to the championships. The audience had a good time while the show was on. We even had participants from as far as Negeri Sembilan taking part at it. A great success of sorts for those involved in organising and participating this year's edition.
As the Team Manager of Kuala Lumpur, we achieved some highs and lows in the individual categories as we competed at the nationals in Pulau Pinang. As team overall we could only achieve 5th Place.
In October I completed what I begin in 2009, the Advance Sport Management Course (ASMC) by Olympic Solidarity and Olympic Council of Malaysia. I have to stop midway in 2009 due to health reasons, but never giving up to finish what I started, I continued to pursue it in 2010. Thus, I finally completed it in October (class) and December (submission of case studies - soft and hard copies to OCM). Hopefully with this I will be on my way in having a paper qualification couple with experience and knowledge in becoming a more competent sport administrator.
Am still pursing another program, the International Certification in Sports Coaching by United States Sport Academy (USSA) incorporation with the National Sports Institute of Malaysia (ISN). Having to attend 6 modules in which I will complete in March 2011.
While all this was going on, I still try make time to volunteer my services with Pierre de Courbetin Society of Malaysia (PCSM) in introducing students to Olympic Education which focuses on positive values like fairplay, respect, excellence and teamwork by using sports in particular the Olympic Games and sporting personalities as examples. The Olympism Outreach Program took us to SMK (P) Methodist, where 105 fourth formers participated in it and benefited from the program which was held during school hours. The program was filled with lectures, group discussions, presentations, games and even a cultural performance on the last day. The Outreach Program was the 3rd series and was sponsored by Pilot Pen Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Any schools that are interested to have this program conducted can contact Ms. Tay Li Neo, PCSM Secretary at 016-2798127.
Meantime at the inaugural PCSM meeting, I was elected as one of the two Vice Presidents. Congratulations to those who was elected too.
Come December, I received notification that I has successfully been listed as Top 3 finalist for Best Sports Officer award to be presented at the 'Majlis Anugerah Sukan Wilayah Persekutuan 2009' to be held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya. The award was eventually won by Mr. Steven Teng from Tenpin Bowling.
As 2010 nears to an end, I wished to dedicate all my success to God and thank my wife who has stood by me throughout the year in permitting me to share my passion for the benefit of others.
Year 2011, would not be any different from 2010 as I have began planning for more activities and other work that will in someway bring benefits for all in sports, volunteer services and others.
2011 here I come...
and wishing all A Happy New Year
